Join us on Wednesday May 1st at LIM College to hear the latest legal and legislative updates surrounding Adult Use Cannabis and what that means for the Real Estate market in New York State. You will have an opportunity to network with leaders in the cannabis space. Legislative Update will be provided by Kate Hruby of KJH Strategy. Jennifer Cabrera from Vicente, LLP. will give is an update on Legislation and things in Albany.
This month we will be doing things a little differently – Jeanne Sullivan will dive into Cannabis Tax and 280(e) with Jason Klimik from Barclay Damon and then Katie Neer will join Jeanne to talk about New York's TPI regulations. Bring your questions, and sharpen your pencils!

Kristin L. Jordan, Esq is the Founder + CEO of Park Jordan, a commercial real estate brokerage and advisory services firm serving the cannabis industry. She is also an attorney, drug policy activist, and thought leader. Until recently, Kristin served as the Director of Real Estate at Acreage Holdings. In that role, Kristin led Acreage’s efforts with regard to selecting real estate sites for the company's national footprint of cultivation, processing, and dispensary facilities, managing internal and external relationships, and negotiating and administering leases. Prior to her work in the cannabis sector, she practiced real estate law at several boutique firms and managed real estate portfolios for Kaplan, Inc., Morgan Stanley, and SoulCycle. She is a frequent speaker on real estate, cannabis regulations, and social equity and economic justice issues and in 2019 was distinguished by Forbes as one of “Fifteen Powerful and Innovative Women in Cannabis Right Now."
Kristin's passion for advancing cannabis reform has extended to a variety of professional and non-profit endeavors. She is the Founder and CEO of Mannada, a NYC-based cannabis professional event production company, which launched The Maze, a weekly cannabis event listing newsletter, as well as the Cannabis Summit Series including the Cannabis Media Summit, Cannabis Real Estate Summit, and Cannabis Law Summit. Kristin is also a co-founder of the Cannabis Cultural Association, a non-profit organization, and the founder of the Asian Cannabis Roundtable, a professional networking organization, both of which she served as Executive Director. Additionally, Kristin is a member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Cannabis and the Minority Cannabis Business Association Policy Committee.
Jeanne Sullivan – Investor, Advisor, Speaker is passionate about delivering ideas – information – and inspiration to entrepreneurs and is a fierce advocate for cannabis reform. Sullivan is the CIO of Arcview Ventures, building investment platforms under the Arcview banner and Co-Founder of the Arcview Collective Fund. Sullivan is on the team of the Arcview Group – this investor community has invested more than $350 million into just about every cannabis company you know.Based in NYC, Jeanne is a co-founder of a $400M AUM venture capital firm and long-time tech investor, now leveraging years of investing acumen into the cannabis sector. Sullivan was early to understand and invest in cloud-based computing, tech and internet investing and now early as a cannabis investor. Sullivan keeps up with the complex regulations and licensing opportunities. She sees the opportunities for cannabis business owners and investors, making connections and opening doors.Ms. Sullivan is a sought-after industry speaker on the cannabis sector – its complex (and ridiculous) regulations and how to build and seek funding for a cannabis business. Sullivan was named by Business Insider as “one of the Rising Stars” in the cannabis investing sector and honored by the New York Hall of Science honored Jeanne for her work inspiring girls and women in science, technology (STEM) sectors. Jeanne also serves on its Board of Trustees.

Jennifer Cabrera, Esq is a partner at Vicente LLP, advising clients on the full range of matters impacting new cannabis businesses in New York and New Jersey, from state and local licensing to fundraising to compliance. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Jennifer manages the firm’s New Jersey practice group and is actively involved in promoting and working with small and locally-owned businesses across the region.
Prior to joining Vicente LLP in 2019, Jennifer’s practice focused on commercial litigation and arbitration. She began her legal career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, representing clients in complex commercial disputes, and later managed a boutique law firm, which gave her a crucial perspective on the experience of business owners.
Jennifer holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, Harvard Law School, and the University of Cambridge. She previously served as adjunct faculty at the law schools of Duke, Fordham, and St. John’s. She is a member of the board of the National Hispanic Cannabis Council and the Harvard Club of New York City. In 2022, Jennifer was recognized as a top-rated cannabis law attorney by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers. In 2023 and 2024, Jennifer was recognized by her peers in the "Best Lawyers" list for her work in cannabis law.
Kate Hruby currently serves as President & CEO of KJH Strategy, a boutique cannabis
regulatory and government relations consultancy, where she works with various
licensees across the supply chain to obtain and maintain adult-use licensure. Here, she
uses her expert knowledge of policy and procedure to leverage strategies aimed at
helping established MSOs, local entrepreneurs, and priority applicants navigate
complex regulatory and legislative schemes.
Prior to her work at KJH Strategy, Kate served as Director of Policy Research &
Analysis for Castetter Cannabis Group work with various operators to plan for the multi-
billion-dollar adult-use cannabis market.
Kate got her start in journalism, working for The Index-Journal in South Carolina where
she was awarded First Place for Education Reporting by the South Carolina Press
Association in 2014. Kate went on to graduate school at the University of South
Carolina, earning a Master of Public Administration in 2018. While at USC, Kate served
as Vice President of the MPA Student Association and was named the Max Holland and
Mitch Sizemore Scholar by the South Carolina City and County Management
Association.
During her tenure in South Carolina, Kate also worked as an analyst for the South
Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff in both telecommunications and energy regulation,
producing various statutorily required reports, as well as the 2016 State Energy Plan.
She also served as Research Director for the South Carolina Senate’s Family &
Veterans Services Committee, with jurisdiction over sections of law governing the
Department of Social Services and the South Carolina Children’s Code, analyzing
managing all committee-assigned legislation, appointments, and oversight duties, and
coordinating related committee meetings and public hearings.
A native of Long Island, Kate moved back to New York in early 2021, when cannabis
legalization became imminent.
In her spare time, Kate volunteers with the New York Public Library Young Lions
Association and the United Way.
Jason Klimik, Esq is the co-leader of Barclay Damon's Cannabis Team. He primarily concentrates his practice on the nuanced processes of
structuring, licensing, and maintaining compliant cannabis businesses at the federal, state, and local levels. He has extensive experience advising clients, including cannabis companies, startups, small to midsize technology companies, and medical professionals, on various complex federal and state tax compliance issues affecting cannabis-touching businesses as well as entity selection, funding, intellectual property, employment matters, and securities transactions.
As the chair of the Tax Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Cannabis Law Section and a member of the section's Executive Committee, Jason is at the epicenter of cannabis law and policy developments in New York State. This places him in a unique position to help New York State set the highest possible legal and business standards for legalized cannabis products. Jason also serves as the New York State Bar Association Committee on Cannabis Law Tax Section liaison.
Katie Neer, Esq ssists clients on New York state regulatory and legislative issues. Katie primarily focuses on regulatory compliance issues for heavily regulated industries, including cannabis, gaming, and financial services.
Prior to private practice, Katie served as Assistant Secretary for General Government and Financial Services in the New York State Governor’s Office. At the Governor’s office, Katie was a member of the state operations team overseeing policy and operations for six agencies: the Department of Financial Services (DFS); the State Insurance Fund; the Department of State; the Department of Tax and Finance; the Office of General Services; and the Gaming Commission. During her time in the Governor’s Office, Katie was responsible for negotiating and overseeing the implementation of several key policy initiatives, including Paid Family Leave, Ride-Share, and the DFS’s cybersecurity regulations.
Katie also gained in-house experience in the cannabis industry, working as the Director of Government Affairs for a multi-state-operator and Chair of the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association. In those roles, she gained a specialized understanding of the challenges facing cannabis operators in several states, including New York, where policymakers recently enacted legislation to legalize and regulate cannabis for adult-use.
Katie was listed as an attorney on The Best Lawyers in America, “Ones to Watch,” List for Administrative and Regulatory law in 2021. In 2018, she was profiled as an Albany 40 Under 40 Rising Star. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood.
A member of the New York State Bar, she received her J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, her M.P.A. from Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, and her B.A. in political science from SUNY Albany, where she earned the 2009 SUNY Chancellor’s Award of Excellence and played Division I Lacrosse.
